Kigali, 6 December 2011

President Kagame has said that in order to build a firm foundation for the country, it is important to combine the strengths of the young and the old. While presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Ministers today at Parliament buildings, President Kagame said:

“As you may have noted from today’s event, we seek to build on experience. We are confident that Vincent Biruta has the required experience to take our education system where we want it to be, judging from his performance in his past responsibilities.”

President Kagame said that the youth who constitute a big percentage of Rwanda’s population should be given a chance to gain experience in running their country:

“We also seek to harness the energy of the youth of this country by giving them a chance to gain experience in leadership. By appointing a youthful Minister to lead the Ministry of youth, we want to give an opportunity to young people to manage their affairs and at the same time gain confidence to take up big responsibilities.”

President Kagame noted that although the country still has many challenges, its people have the will, the knowledge and are ready to sacrifice to solve them.
