The Nuncio Apostolic Mgr. Ivo Scapolo today called on President Kagame at Urugwiro Village to bid him farewell as his mission in Rwanda comes to a conclusion. The Vatican representative was posted to Rwanda in January 2008 and is now heading to Chile for his next mission.

Speaking to the press after meeting President Kagame, Mgr. Ivo Scapolo said: “I briefed the President about the Church’s activities in Rwanda in areas of education, health and services. We also talked about how the Church’s collaboration with the government can be ameliorated to make better delivery of services by the Church in Rwanda.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo said: “The Pope’s representative has been here for three years and is now heading to Chile. The discussions with the President dwelt on relationships between Rwanda and the Catholic Church, where the President pointed out the fact that things were getting better after some historical problems.”
