President Kagame today received former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, who paid him a courtesy call. President Obasanjo is in the country to attend the 7th African Economic Conference taking place in Kigali, from October 30 until November 2.
Addressing the press after the meeting, President Obasanjo said he had time to discuss with President Kagame issues related to Nigeria and Rwanda as well as the region and the continent at large.
On the issue of the Congo crisis, President Obasanjo who served as the UN Special Envoy to Eastern Congo said:
“For about 15 moths, we did our best to bring under control the monumental crisis. Quite honestly, what I know and see, I believe that if the recommendations and contents of our report had been faithfully implemented, I believe there would not have been resurgence of the situation we had before.”
