President Kagame today received in his office the Nestle Group Chairman, Mr. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe who led a delegation from Nestle to pay him a courtesy call. Speaking to the press after the meeting, Mr. Brabeck-Letmathe announced that Nestle had made a decision to establish a branch in Rwanda within a few months: “I was extremely impressed and motivated by what has been achieved in Rwanda over the last couple of years. This country has a an institutional framework that favors foreign direct investment, political stability and a fast growing economy which are the three basic factors that favor investment”.
The CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, Mr. John Gara said: “This was a visit by the CEO and Chairman of Nestle worldwide following a good report by the regional CEO on the environment of and potential of doing business in Rwanda. When they came today they had already made the decision that they would set up a factory here, and this is going to be the first step towards establishing other longer term factors like supply and all that”. Nestle is well established in the region where it supplies various food products from its base in Nairobi.
