President Kagame today received in his office Mr. Inanc Ciftci, Honorary Consul of Turkey who called to brief him about Turkish investors who are in the country to look at investment opportunities.
Talking to the press, the Honorary Consul said: “I have brought young Turkish business people to start business in Rwanda and already five Turkish are in talks with RDB to start a company here. We have been informing Turkish people that Rwanda is an attractive destination for business and the response is good.”
The Consul said that the Turkish business people have especially been impressed by the efficiency and organization of RDB: “We don’t have a similar organization in Turkey. It is amazing to see young and hardworking people at RDB.” He said that after assessment, the businesspeople had found out that there is a shortage of low cost housing and therefore they are willing to use their experiences in Turkey to invest in this area. He said that other areas they are interested in include mining and health.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Mary Baine said: “The Honorary Consul is here with a delegation of businesspeople from Turkey who are impressed with what they have seen and five of them have already registered their businesses. The President has assured them of cooperation and assistance from the Government”.
