Kigali, 31 July 2011

President Kagame and his guest, President Museveni today visited Nyagatovu model village in Rwamagana district. They were accompanied by Mrs. Jeanette Kagame and Mrs. Janet Museveni.

President Kagame thanked the residents of Nyagatovu model village for working hard to change their lives and for understanding and receiving well what their leaders tell them to do. Introducing President Museveni, his family and delegation to residents of Nyagatovu, President Kagame told them that they were privileged to have such high profile guests visit them. “The President is visiting with his family and this indeed carries a lot of weight. He even joined Rwandans to carry out Umuganda and even made a substantive financial contribution. We are indeed honored to have him as our guest.”

Addressing the residents of Nyagatovu, President Museveni thanked President Kagame for inviting him to visit Nyagatovu village. He said: “I am very happy about what I have seen here. The problem with us Africans is that we destroy our land due to poor settlement. I want to salute President Kagame and Rwandans for tackling poor settlement. It is indeed good policy to plan settlements, consolidating land and leaving land for production. Poor settlement interferes with the natural order.”

Earlier on in the day, President Kagame and First Lady Jeanette Kagame conducted President Museveni, First Lady Janet Museveni and their daughter Natasha around their ranch on the shores of Lake Muhazi, before President Kagame gave President Museveni 10 Inyambo cows.
