Kigali, 18 December 2012

Today saw President Kagame and First Lady, Jeannette Kagame launch the construction of the Rwanda Patriotic Front Headquarters in Gasabo District – also known as the original birth place of Rwanda.

President Kagame began by thanking the residents present for joining the day’s event and emphasized that the RPF Headquarters will be available for all in the community and beyond to use.

“RPF does not get old with age, it only gets younger and better.” President Kagame said referring to the RPF 25th Anniversary.

President Kagame reminded those present of the need for Rwandans to continue working hard.

“We must build a self reliant nation; no one else will do it for us. And if anyone offered to build our nation for us, I would not accept their offer. We know they would not be doing it for free.”

The RPF Headquarters will be an expression of the rebirth of Rwanda and of good governance and democracy. Set on an 11 ha field, the RPF headquarters will be home to offices, a convention centre able to accommodate over 1000 people and a political school able to receive over 2000 students.
