Rwandans, Residents, Friends of Rwanda:

We begin this New Year with the confidence that despite 2020’s unique challenges, Rwanda made progress in many areas. This means that we can do even more, after we have put this pandemic behind us.

The lesson of the past year is that when we remain disciplined and united, we stay safe. We must all remain vigilant in the months ahead because Covid still has the potential to cause great harm, before the vaccine arrives.

Because of your commitment, dedication, and love for the country, this coming year will be better than the one we just had.

So let’s take good care of ourselves, and each other.

This message was actually intended to be the one to close this year and start another, but we discussed those issues when I delivered the State of the Nation Address.

My family and I wish you and your loved ones a happy and prosperous new year in 2021.

Good night, and God bless you.
